The Homemaker’s Creed

A Declaration of Faith, Mission and Commitment

A Commitment to Spiritual and Personal Growth

The cornerstone of leadership and home management is a commitment to spiritual and personal growth. If we aspire to lead our homes, we must first challenge ourselves to a higher level of accountability, development, and maturity.

That process begins when we clarify what we believe and why we believe it. The better able I am to define and articulate my beliefs and perceptions, the more likely I will be able to influence the development of these ideologies in my own life and subsequently the lives of my family.

It is easier to lead someone down a clearly defined path than pull someone through an overgrown thicket.

Homemakers are The Greatest Influencers

A Commitment to Christ-Centered, Family-Focused Homemaking

In a world that often devalues the beauty of biblical homemaking, we stand firm in the truth that our role is a sacred calling. That’s why I created

The Homemaker’s Creed – a declaration of faith, mission and commitment to encourage and equip women in their homemaking journey.

The Homemaker’s Creed is centered in faith and reflective of the Christian homemaker’s desire to be an influencer in the home, her community and the world.

The Homemaker's Creed Common Sense Homemaking

A Declaration of Faith, Mission, and Commitment

I believe that homemaking is a sacred calling, ordained by God as a means of nurturing life, cultivating love, and shaping the next generation.

I affirm that my role as a homemaker is a God-given ministry of service, stewardship, and influence. I will strive to model Christ’s love, grace, and practical wisdom in my home and community, knowing that my faithfulness in small things contributes to eternal purposes.

A Commitment to Spiritual and Personal Growth

I recognize that my ability to love, lead, teach, and influence my family, community, and the world is rooted in my spiritual and personal development. Therefore:

  • I will pursue a deep and abiding relationship with Christ through whom I have been reconciled to God and by whose Spirit I am progressively being transformed into His image. I commit to becoming an astute student of God’s Word and Truth, sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit, and an obedient servant of His purposes and direction.
  • I will seek wisdom and knowledge, grow in biblical knowledge and discernment, develop practical homemaking skills, and develop godly leadership to be a well-equipped steward of my home and the influence entrusted to me.
  • I will cultivate a humble and teachable spirit, remaining open to correction, refinement, and growth as I seek to become more like Christ in all I say and do.
  • I will prioritize self-discipline and diligence, rejecting idleness and apathy so that my life is a testimony of faithfulness, perseverance, and excellence.
  • I will strive for relational, emotional, mental, and physical well-being, understanding that a well-ordered life and a healthy body strengthen my ability to serve, nurture, lead, teach, and influence.

A Commitment to Christ-Centered, Family-Focused Homemaking

I commit to the following principles:

  1. Christ-Centered Living – I will seek first the Kingdom of God, making prayer, God’s Word, and worship the foundation of my home.
  2. Biblical Womanhood – I will embrace my femininity as God designed, honoring my role as a wife, mother, and keeper of the home with joy and dignity.
  3. Faithful Stewardship – I will diligently care for my home and manage my time, resources, and responsibilities with wisdom and excellence.
  4. Love-Led Leadership – I will influence my family and community through a heart of servant leadership, teaching, and training with patience and love.
  5. Truth and Love—I will promote a balance of Truth and Love, speaking God’s definitive Truth while maintaining a loving and compassionate manner.
  6. Honoring My Marriage and Husband – I will respect God’s design for marriage by respecting, supporting, encouraging, and honoring my husband. I commit to building a marriage that highlights, models, and reflects Christ’s union with the bride of Christ.
  7. Discipleship in the Home – I will model a way of life worthy of emulation by my children. I will love, lead, launch, and release the children God has entrusted to my care. I will train my children in the truth, discipline, and grace of God so they may walk in His Light all the days of their lives and become people through whom the goodness of God will extend into future generations.
  8. Hospitality and Service – I will open my home to others and practice hospitality as a reflection of Christ’s love, grace, and generosity.
  9. Cultural Influence – I will commit myself to the defense of the faith, standing firm against man-made fictions, societal pressures, and destructive doctrines. I will live as a light in a culture that often devalues the home and family and strive to glorify God as an ambassador of Christ charged with the ministry of reconciliation.
  10. Legacy and Generational Impact – I will pass down wisdom, knowledge, faith, and God-centered traditions to future generations, understanding that my influence extends beyond my lifetime and has eternal implications.

With God’s help, I commit to an ever-expanding knowledge of God and God’s ways and the ability to provide a loving, safe, and Christ-centered haven for my family. I pledge to honor God in all of my choices, actions, and words and seek the advancement of His Kingdom in this life and the life to come.
